So many amazing organisations exist out there, all of them helping break the stigma and ignite the conversation.




Lifeline supports the community and people experiencing difficulty through accessible crisis support, counselling, education, community capacity building and referral services. They offer 24/7 crisis support on the below phone number.

Beyond Blue provides information and support to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live. On the phone number below you can get free, confidential telephone counselling (local call costs apply). Most calls last around 20 minutes.

1800RESPECT is the national domestic, family and sexual violence counselling, information and support service. The Suicide Call Back Service is a 24 hour, nationwide service that provides free telephone, video and online counselling. You can call us anywhere and anytime.

Their professionally trained counsellors have specialist skills in working with suicide-related issues and they can help you to work through the pain and distress you may be feeling. The service offers up to four additional phone counselling sessions and these sessions are called ‘call backs’.

Blue Knot is the National Centre of Excellence for Complex Trauma. They advocate for and provide support to people who have experiences of complex trauma, and those who support them, personally and professionally.

Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. Established in 2006, and ever since they’ve provided early intervention mental health services to 12-25-year-olds. Including online and phone support, work and study support & drop in centres. Their website contains a wealth of knowledge and resources.

The Black Dog Institute is the only medical research institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan, their aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. Their partnerships with people with lived experience, federal, state and local governments, communities, schools, corporate Australia and others in the mental health sector enables us to drive evidence-informed change in mental health where it’s needed most. Their website contains a wealth of information including evidence based research on a range of mental health conditions and digital tools and apps.
