Igniting the conversation young

Ignite the conversation around Mental Health early, we owe it to the next generation

Shaka in Schools

The Shaka Project takes a unique and engaging approach to School Mental Health Awareness Presentations, focusing on fostering resilience and emotional well-being among students. Our methodology combines interactive activities, relatable storytelling, and evidence-based strategies to create an inclusive and supportive environment.

The Shaka Projects' presentations are designed to be age-appropriate and culturally relevant, ensuring that students feel comfortable and engaged by incorporating group discussions, encouraging open dialogue about mental health, reducing stigma and fostering understanding.Additionally, the organisation emphasises practical tools and coping strategies that students can apply in their daily lives.

TSP aim to empower young people to recognise their own mental health needs and seek help when necessary, promoting a proactive mindset towards mental wellness.

Previous Schools

"The Shaka Project was fantastic with Murrayville Community College. Sean was able to engage our students positively to have insight as to what can happen if we ignore the signs of mental ill health. He spoke about the old stigma of pushing our feelings down and instead encouraged us to create a pathway for a new revitalised process of being vulnerable and reaching out. The highlight being kindness and looking out for our peers. The students walked away with a lot of insight, inspiration to be there for one another and were able to touch base with the Mental Health Practitioner at the school and ask for help." -

Isaac was a fantastic presenter. He was engaging, passionate and evocated great conversation amongst the students. Students quickly felt comfortable with Isaac and able to share their own thoughts and stories. I would highly recommend the Shaka Project, particularly Isaac as a presenter and we will definitely be inviting them back in the new year. Thanks guys for all you do.

Sean flew all the way across the country to visit our small high school in Tom Price. He was very engaging and relatable for our students and made them feel safe to open up and talk about issues that they face. After the sessions, our male students really did take on board what was said and are now continuing to discuss issues surround men's mental health in their positive masculinity classes.

“Sean is a veteran presenter. He was open, vulnerable, and honest about his own history which allowed others to take his advice and knowledge seriously but also open up about their own experiences if they wished. Hearing his life story and seeing what he has accomplished was inspiring and motivational. The sharing of warning signs to look out for and strategies to help ignite the conversation etc were beneficial to all present. I instantly messaged several mates after the presentation to tell them I loved them and the conversations that resulted were supportive and helpful to all involved. I couldn't recommend Sean and The Shaka Project more.”
