OUR STORY
The Shaka Project launced on January 19th, 2019. It started from an idea to create conversation starters through t-shirts and hoodies. All in the name of Mental Health Awareness. In the fist year, over 10,000 t-shirts, beanies, hoodies and singlets to people all over the world! What started off as a small idea had now become a commuinity movement, driven by those who supported us, and the message.
The Shaka always had one mission, to ignite the conversation, crush the stigma and change the stats on Suicide here in Australia. Through lived experience of Mental Health and Suicide we wanted to put our pain into passion, to help those experiencing mental health crisis, to promote support seeking behaviour and to normalise the conversation of ''it's okay, not to be okay!''
We are true believers that all of us have a role to play in prevention, prevention is every day and every moment. Through vulnerability, destigmastisation, authentic, real conversations and good old fashioned ''Loving ya mates!'' - we can all make an impact one of this country's biggest killer.

OUR EVENTS
Since 2019, our team have delivered over 500 Suicide Prevention events to Schools, Workplaces, Sporting Clubs, Community Organisations and Private events all over Australia, New Zealand, Asia & Europe. Our prevention events are raw, relatebale, authentic and a no BS approach to Mental Health & Suicide Prevention. Our events challenge stigmas, encourage vulnerability and create tools for continuing the conversation in our own communities.

OUR MERCH
Our merchandise plays a pivitol roll in our mission to ignite the conversation around Mental Health. We wanted to create clothing that you could wear to the pub, a footy game, to work or even out for dinner- and have it be a conversation starter. ''What's the Shaka?!''
Wearing a Shaka tee, hoodie or any other merchandise is also a sign of solidarity, a sign to show others around you that you have empathy, care and understanding for Mental Health. A big sign to say ''I care, if you need to talk- i am here''
Since 2019, we have sold over 45,000 T-Shirts, we see this as 45 thousand conversations started!
